Nature
Nate Cormier, Managing Studio Director for Landscape Architecture at RIOS, led the landscape design team for Alloy's new building, blending the industrial history of the Arts District into its outdoor spaces. The retail paseo’s narrow paths reflect historic rail spurs, while the podium and rooftop feature lush, organic designs that flow seamlessly between indoors and outdoors.
Nate and his team at RIOS balanced function with beauty across every level. “We wanted the outdoor spaces to radiate beauty through botanical abundance and rich formal flourishes,” Nate says, ensuring that each space reflects the creative energy and heritage of the neighborhood.
Art & Design
Gulla Jonsdottir, the architectural interior designer for Alloy, transforms spaces with her unique vision. Inspired by kintsugi, she integrates raw elements with gold accents to celebrate the industrial history of the Arts District while revitalizing it.
Functionality and aesthetic appeal are balanced, ensuring every element serves a purpose while enhancing the overall beauty. Each material at Alloy is selected with care to balance modern luxury with the creative energy of the Arts District. From the tactile rawness of concrete to the warmth of wood finishes, every detail reflects the character of the neighborhood.
Gulla Jonsdottir also collaborated with local artists to infuse the building with creative energy. ‘Using art today is so significant, it’s about getting the soul of the art into the architecture—the space is literally breathing art and culture,’ says Gulla.
“Alloy gives me this new understanding of a raw fresh energy in an up-and-coming art community,” notes Jonsdottir.
